Role:
Traffic Signal Engineer
Role Purpose:
To use technical expertise to deliver a wide range of signal design projects within the organisation
How the role fits into Morgan Tucker:
Undertaking signal design work as agreed with the Design Manager and
the Regional Manager or as stated in the project plan for specific
work. Signal design includes work with specific clients in the South
East. This role requires someone who has undertaken a wide range signal
design work and capable of managing and delivery schemes on their own
initiative.
Providing the technical expertise means that the work Morgan Tucker
produces is of high quality and at least meets, if not exceeds the
needs of our clients. This enhances the reputation of the company and
in turn develops the amount of repeat and word of mouth business that
we obtain which in turn increases the variety of work that we all
perform
Role Responsibilities
v Ensure complete understanding of the requirements of the task
v Offering support to the project team
v Apply technical principles (including codes of practice/standards)
and in accordance with CDM regulations and Health & Safety
regulations
v Undertake appropriate risk assessments
v Undertake self-check
v Understand and work within deadlines and constraints
v Communicate any issues/problems/development to Line Manager
v To provide a high level of customer care to all customers

v Ensure all work undertaken is accurate and meets required deadlines
v To develop the team and to communicate effectively on all issues

Key Requirements
Knowledge:
Essential for the role
v Working knowledge of Sietag and how it integrates within a signal junction.
v Understanding of real time traffic information systems.
v Working knowledge of different operational systems (VA, Fixed time, Mova, Compact Mova, cable less linking, UTC etc)
v Knowledge of Relevant regulations and COP, current design standards.
v FAT's (Factory acceptance Testing)
v SAT's (Site acceptance Testing)
v Prom Blowing
v Working knowledge of IC4 configuration software.
v Working knowledge of handset commands for interrogating controllers.
v Sector 8 approved to open electrical cabinets on the highway.
v Key Signals experience
v Linsig version 2.experience
v Comprehensive understanding of the legal requirements of the role
v Produce Transyt outputs
v IC4 configuration and emulation software
v Detailed knowledge of TR2500 forms (new TR2210)
Skills:
v MS Word, MS Excel and ideally Autocad
v Report Writing
v Presentation Skills
v Excellent communication skills
v Flexibility as this role will require the person to perform a variety of functions within the Engineering team
Experience:
v Some practical experience of working with a Consulting engineering organisation or local authority department
Qualifications:
v A minimum of Higher National Certificate in appropriate discipline or equivalent qualification
