MORGAN TUCKER SETS ITS SIGHTS ON GROWTH

Morgan Tucker has ambitious growth plans and has relocated to bigger premises as part of its expansion.

The firm of consulting engineers has moved from its offices at The Aura Centre on Manners Road in Newark to 65 Northgate, also in Newark.

The firm has moved to the new site with the intention of developing new offices and a long-term base for its headquarters, growing from its current 30 employees to 200 in the next eight years.

It is envisaged that around 60 staff could eventually be based in Newark, about double those currently employed, with the rest in regional offices and in London. There are also longer-term plans to have a permanent office in Europe, possibly in Romania where the firm has bid for EU-funded projects.

Matthew Tucker, managing director of Morgan Tucker said they were making a move now to take advantage of the rapid growth expected once the struggling construction industry was back on its feet.

He said: “If the market isn’t going to change, we’ll change and do something different.

“We managed to weather the recession relatively unscathed, and now we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Our plans to grow took a back seat last year, but 2011 is our year to change all this, and the office move signals a really important turning point for us. We are really looking forward to the next few years and growing the firm both nationally and internationally.”

As well as the relocation, there has already been an expansion in the range of services Morgan Tucker now offers.

Matthew says they planned to grow by gradually increasing their number of key core clients, which are mostly large multi-national companies. He said they would bid for more landmark projects to get their name known nationally and internationally.

The firm has already completed a major contract to design, deliver and project manage the rail freight facilities for the construction of the London 2012 Olympic Park.

It has also designed the world’s first Sikh holocaust memorial in Derby, which has recently been granted planning permission, and will oversee its implementation.

Future projects may include the design and delivery of the infrastructure for the new US Embassy in London, for which Morgan Tucker has been shortlisted.

Morgan Tucker was set up in 2005 by Matthew Tucker and his wife, Jo Morgan, in a bedroom of their then home in Newark. The couple now live in Harby, Lincolnshire.
