Infrastructure Engineer - Role Profile

Role:

Infrastructure Engineer (with specific experience in Flood Risk Assessments)

Role Purpose:

To use technical expertise to deliver a wide range of design projects within the organisation

How the role fits into Morgan Tucker:

Undertaking infrastructure design work as agreed with the Design Manager and the Regional Manager or as stated in the project plan for specific work. Infrastructure design includes work on highways, drainage and flood risk assessments. This role requires someone who has undertaken flood risk assessments and is looking to broaden their knowledge and expertise into other aspects of infrastructure

Providing the technical expertise means that the work Morgan Tucker produces is of high quality and at least meets, if not exceeds the needs of our clients. This enhances the reputation of the company and in turn develops the amount of repeat and word of mouth business that we obtain which in turn increases the variety of work that we all perform

Role Responsibilities

v  Ensure complete understanding of the requirements of the task

v  Assisting Project Engineers to deliver individual projects

v  Offering support to the project team

v  Writing reports and completing appropriate designs

v  Apply technical principles (including codes of practice/standards) and in accordance with CDM regulations and Health & Safety regulations

v  To communicate effectively with Regional Manager and Project Team through involvement  in meetings and to undertake performance management with team of technicians

v  To liaise with Client, other consultants and interested bodies as required

v  Undertake appropriate risk assessments

v  Undertake self-check

v  Understand and work within deadlines and constraints

v  Communicate any issues/problems/development to  Line Manager

v  To provide a high level of customer care to all customers

Key Requirements

Knowledge:

Essential for the role

v  Comprehensive understanding of the legal requirements of the role including current planning guidance relating to flood risk in the UK and the Flood Estimation Handbook (FEH)

v  Knowledge of producing flood risks in line with current and future planning guidance (PPG25, PPS25, TAN15 and or SSP7)

v  Knowledge of hydraulics and hydrology

v  Comprehensive understanding of the legal requirements of the role

Skills:                                                                                        

v  MS Word, MS Excel and ideally AutoCad

v  Report Writing

v  Presentation Skills

v  Excellent communication skills

v  Flexibility as this role will require the person to perform a variety of functions within Engineering

Experience:

v  Some practical experience of working with a Consulting engineering organisation or local authority department

Qualifications:

v  A minimum of  Higher National Certificate in appropriate discipline or equivalent qualification

v  Membership of an appropriate Institute
